SAN JOSE The Signia by Hilton hotel in downtown San Jose is slated to be placed on the sales block sometime during 2027, according to the latest plans publicly disclosed by the iconic lodging tower s owner. The 541-room hotel at 175 South Market St. is owned by an affiliate of BrightSpire Capital, the lender that in May 2025 seized ownership of the complex through a foreclosure of a failed $134 million real estate loan. The foreclosure valued the Signia by Hilton San Jose hotel at $80 million, documents on file in Santa Clara County show. During an Oct. 28 conference call with Wall Street analysts, a BrightSpire Capital executive sketched out a potential timeline to scout for a buyer for the 20-story hotel tower. At some point in 2027, BrightSpire Capital expects to market its San Jose hotel, the company s president and chief operating officer, Andrew Witt, told the analysts. Some work must be completed on the Signia hotel before it s actively placed up for sale, according to Witt.
