UK ‘uninvestable’ if North Sea projects are blocked

The UK will be uninvestable in the eyes of most energy companies if the government blocks the Jackdaw and Rosebank oilfields in the North Sea, the boss of Norway s state-run oil and gas firm has warned. Equinor chief Anders Opedal said his firm could pull out of future projects in the UK if the two oil and gas fields waiting on a green light from ministers are axed on environmental grounds. Jackdaw and Rosebank have been held up in a legal review for years, he told the BBC, adding that his energy giant would have to take a hard view about it if the government chooses not to rubber stamp the drilling projects. At an earlier energy conference, Opedal warned not granting approval would constitute a major setback that would force Equinor and other players to ask if the UK is investable .
